WPC Group Apprenticeships and Traineeships with assistance from Government, Business and Industry launched Australia's first dedicated youth based skills for sustainability initiative. Our site is about information for employees and employers, a place to be connected and to understand how interest and engagement from young Australians will lead to productivity as we adapt and innovate around climate change. Our objective is to ensure Australia’s workforce can respond to the growing demand for Green Skills.

We are focused on working to develop a sustainable green-collar economy that truly provides opportunity for all. We advocate for the creation of "green-collar" jobs in both skilled and semi skilled occupations, in hands-on jobs in industries like renewable energy, water and energy efficiency as well as placing trainees into entry level positions who have sustainability embedded into their training package with employers who want to embrace climate change. Thinking sustainably is now changing the way we live, work and do business.

Our program aims to build vibrant, cross-sector partnerships that work with and take input from corporate Australia, business and Industry, unions, green businesses, environmental organisations, local government and education and training institutions. Understanding and embracing issues around climate change will create job opportunities, particularly for young Australians as they make the critical transition from school to work and offer exciting opportunities to transform many existing jobs to meet consumer demand. The way we adapt through innovation will be Australians advantage.

Sarah Derks wins GreenSkills Trainee of the Year

Congratulations to Sarah Derks for winning the GreenSkills Trainee of the Year! Sarah's can do attitude, commitment and an all round sense of humor are just some of the characteristics to best describe her.

Sarah came to join WPC Group on the 27th of January where she commenced a traineeship in customer contact with her Host Employer VISY Recycling. Sarah was quick to convey her abilities in applying herself to any task at hand and committing herself 100% to both her position and studies. Her supervisor, Kate Cosford VISY Recycling’s Victorian Customer Service Manager, describes her as “an individual who provides the ultimate service for our customers and we are very proud to have her representing VISY Recycling”.

Please contact us for further information on how to easily set up an apprentice for your organisation.
